I miss you Kyle!

What a summer, first my best friend moves away and now my son is off as well. My house is very quiet with just me and the girls (Darrick being away at Art school in Chicago).

A week ago Saturday I dropped off my second oldest son at Purdue University. I asked my friend Karen to drive to Purdue with me cause I didn't want to drive home alone; and her son Evan (Kyle's best friend) came along as well. I am so glad that they went with me, it kept me from being a blubbering mess on the drive home. I only teared up a few times.

We had a blast dropping Kyle off, we walked a LOT! His room is great and his roommate finally showed up this past Sunday...John B. another one of Kyle's friends from home. I am more relaxed and at ease knowing that his roommate is a great Christian guy.

Kyle went to Purdue a week early to participate in "Boiler Gold Rush"; a freshman headstart on getting to know the campus. I am glad that he went, he feels very at home already and knows his way around. Classes started Monday and he likes it so far.

I know that Kyle is a strong Christian and loves God with his whole heart; he will make the right decisions at school, so while my heart is heavy with missing him, I know that he is right where God wants him to be. I am so proud of him!

It also helps that I get to talk to him on the cell phone everyday ( I also talk with Judy on the cell as well everyday) and I know he will come home often. My little boy has grown into a wonderful man of God...oh so bittersweet! My job, while never done, is now different and afar.

My son, do not forget my teachings, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. Let Love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will find favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:1-5

Rock on for Jesus Kyle!

Last week-end I helped my best friend, Judy, move to Atlanta Georgia. It was a long trip...13 hours with a U-Haul, but it was still fun to be with friends. On the way there it was Judy, Sherri, Roxanne, Whitney and myself. We took turns sleeping and driving and I got the privedge of driving on the Kentucky bridge and then driving down the mountains (ugh). But I lived thru it and plan on doing it many more times...just not in a U-Haul next time.

Mike and Scott joined us due to a time delay they had in starting out. But then so did we...the original plan was to leave at 5am but it soon changed to 12pm then we left at about 3pm. They just left a little later.

We got Judy moved in with the help of three wonderful and strong young men who happened to be moving one of them into the apartment across the hall from Judy's at the same time.

Judy has a wonderful and large apartment in Atlanta and I am so happy for her (but sad for me and the rest of Michiana). I love her new boss and friend, Jeanie Mayo and know that she will take good care of my best friend who is now so far away. The great part is that we talk everyday on the cell phone. She is so happy there and loves Atlanta and her new job.

But I still miss her.
