I miss you Kyle!

What a summer, first my best friend moves away and now my son is off as well. My house is very quiet with just me and the girls (Darrick being away at Art school in Chicago).

A week ago Saturday I dropped off my second oldest son at Purdue University. I asked my friend Karen to drive to Purdue with me cause I didn't want to drive home alone; and her son Evan (Kyle's best friend) came along as well. I am so glad that they went with me, it kept me from being a blubbering mess on the drive home. I only teared up a few times.

We had a blast dropping Kyle off, we walked a LOT! His room is great and his roommate finally showed up this past Sunday...John B. another one of Kyle's friends from home. I am more relaxed and at ease knowing that his roommate is a great Christian guy.

Kyle went to Purdue a week early to participate in "Boiler Gold Rush"; a freshman headstart on getting to know the campus. I am glad that he went, he feels very at home already and knows his way around. Classes started Monday and he likes it so far.

I know that Kyle is a strong Christian and loves God with his whole heart; he will make the right decisions at school, so while my heart is heavy with missing him, I know that he is right where God wants him to be. I am so proud of him!

It also helps that I get to talk to him on the cell phone everyday ( I also talk with Judy on the cell as well everyday) and I know he will come home often. My little boy has grown into a wonderful man of God...oh so bittersweet! My job, while never done, is now different and afar.

My son, do not forget my teachings, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. Let Love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will find favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:1-5

Rock on for Jesus Kyle!
